Actually… the current show on at Ad Astra, The Wolves, is diverse in both race and gender with an LGBTQ cast and crew, Proof had a diverse cast and crew, and The Normal Heart was diverse in so many ways with a crew to match, and more and more, not to mention the backbone of Ad Astra consists of several LGBTQ+ people. As a queer creative making work there myself, I wish people would do their research before reviewing a company they clearly have never supported nor have a relationship with. Art is about not judging people on outward appearance. We don’t do that here. Well done, Ad Astra, for being a home for so many diverse people.

Thank you! We try so hard to be as inclusive as possible. So many shows including Laramie Project, Top Girls, Proof, The Amateurs and others attest to this but we really appreciate you supporting us!

Went along to see "Of Mice And Men" (written by John Steinbeck) at this small theatre tucked away in Misterton Street, Fortitude Valley. If you love up close and personal theatre experiences, you'll love this venue as it seats around 30 per show. I was blown away by this production. The quality was astonishing, with an incredible cast and directed by Jesse Richardson, an accomplished writer, actor, film producer and director. All abilities access to the venue. Car parking for patrons is available under the building on the opposite side of the street. Keep an eye out for their productions during the year. You too will enjoy a night out of theatre at a calibre rarely found in such an intimate experience.

I enjoyed watching a great play at Ad Astra. This small theatre really made it possible to meet the creative team behind the scenes. Even met the director....unforgettable!

Some of your first thoughts when entering the theatre is it's smaller size although the actors end up making it into a great positive. During their performance of the Laramie Project they walked into the audience, spoke directly to people and locked eyes with you. It created an amazing personal feel of the performance. The actors for the performance were amazing and managed to orchestrate the audience from laughing, to quite reflection, to being on the verge of tears. AdAstra is a theatre of great quality.
Owner's response
Hi Ellie, thanks so much - The Laramie Project was one one of our most popular shows. There are some great productions coming up in 2022 - check them out at www.adastracreativity.com

I watched 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf?', written by Edward Albee and directed by Jackie Kerr last night. I'm familiar with the play having studied it in 1988. However, I'd forgotten the intensity. The character Honey is offstage a bit but when she's on she is involved in hysterical scenes. George, Martha and Nick are on a lot and there's no place to hide. Albee does not allow the characters to rest. There's nowhere to hide. So a big thank you to Kennedy, Banyard, Leo and Gordon. The tone is dark, the script is fast paced. Kerr's direction is spot on as is the acting. The theatre provides an intimate setting. This was the first play I've seen with Ad Astra and I'll definitely be back for more. (Being in the Valley, I was worried about parking but there's no shortage).
